THACO AGRI invests in Cattle Breeding Industry – Enhances Vietnam’s agriculture
Since 2020, THACO AGRI started to build cattle breeding farms in Ia Puch Commune, Chu Prong District, Gia Lai Province with the area of over 1,900 hectares and the total investment amount to 3,200 billion dong. We imported breeding cows from Australia and organized experimental rearing of breeding cows, semi-grazed beef cattles in association with rubber, fruit trees and concentrated fattening beef cattles. Up to now, THACO AGRI’s cattle breeding has reached 22,000 breeding cows and nearly 8,000 concentrated fattening beef cattles.
Ia Puch breeding – beef cattles farm is planned into 11 semi-grazed cattles breeding farms (including 4 breeding cows, 3 weaned calves, 1 heifer and 3 semi-grazed beef cattle farms) with scale of 16,000 cows and 3 concentrated fattening beef cattle farms with scale of of 36,000 cows, which improve cattle breeding capacity to 73,000 cows per year. Iapuch breeding cows-beef cattles farm keep on developing land funds to expand maize grass farms and grazing pastures, improve breeding capacity to 100,000 breeding cows in 2024.
In Iapuch farms, breeding cows after imported from Australia will be 21-day isolatedly raised in order to adapt to Vietnam’s climate and environment as well as to ensure biology safety and epidemic prevention. Breeding cows will be pregnant mated and reared in specialized farms inculding: farm for wait-to-mate cows, pregnant cows farm, parturition and concentrated calves breeding farm, parturition and semi-grazed calves breeding farm, weaned calves and little cows farm. After that, technical team will evaluate and select whether the herd will be transfered to breeding cattle or continue to be semi-grazed bred or concentrated fattened before being sold as beef comodity on markets. In farms, the herds are tended and prevented from epidemic to ensure biological safety by vets. Beef consumption and breeding activities of THACO AGRI always strictly conform to ESCAS standard - Export Supply Chain Assurance System of Australia.
To meet the standardized food and water demand for the cattle herd, we planned over 350ha of grazing pasture and 1,000ha of maize grass along with food processing centre, RO water filter system and supplement project serving for cattle breeding production such as bran warehouse, silo reservation system of food ingredient, biomass maize silo, dried factory, composting, retrieving water system serving for pasture irrigation and sewage treatment area.
Iapuch Breeding & cattle farm in Gia Lai is a typical farm for cattle production and breeding model with self-contained value chain from breed import – cattle breeding – semi-grazed beef cattle breeding – concentrated fattening beef cattle breeding – providing commercial beefs which conform to biosafety and Australian breeding standard to the markets. Iapuch farm is also responsible for cattle pregnant mating to provide for THACO AGRI’s farms, transfer technology and supply calves for farmers in Central region to rear outwork, then, we buy-back to concentrated fatten and supply for the markets. Thereby, those contribute to develop the country’s cattle husbandry and increase farmer’s income.
Countinue to develop other cattle breeding farms
With accumulated experience and standardized breeding processes at Ia Puch beef and cattle farms, THACO AGRI strongly invests in more cattle farms in Ea H'leo (Dak Lak), Ia Pa , Ia Blu (Gia Lai), Attapeu (Laos), Kounmom, Snoul (Cambodia). In particular, the breeding cow farm at Ea H'leo (Dak Lak) with the farm scale of 12,000 cows/year on an area of more than 1,445 hectares, has completed phase 1 and started raising 2,000 cows from December, 2021. In Gia Lai, THACO AGRI continues to invest in Ia Pa breeding-beef cattle farm with scale of 22,000 cows and breeding capacity of 32,000 cows/year on an area of nearly 1,200 hectares; Ia Blu Breeding Cattle Farm has a farm size of 6,000 cows on an area of more than 650 hectares. These farms were built and started to breed from August 2022. In addition, THACO AGRI will also invest in cattle farms at the fruit-growing complex in Laos and Cambodia to raise breeding cows in order to supply beef cattle for the Ia Puch Breed and Beef cattle Farm to concentrated fatten.
The investment and development of cow farming projects aims to contribute to the full exploitation of THACO AGRI's available agricultural land fund, at the same time, cow dung is produced and processed into organic fertilizer to fertilize fruit trees and grasslands, etc. This is the foundation for THACO AGRI to implement the strategy of "Organic agricultural production". Through the cooperation model between businesses and farmers in cow production, technology and techniques are transferred by a team of experts to farmers to develop livestock in the locality and contribute to the implementation of THACO AGRI’s mission "Enhance Vietnam's Agriculture" in general and developing the cows husbandry in particular.
