Snuol Complex combines durian farming and cattle raising
To promote the development of specialized fruit-growing areas, THACO AGRI's Snuol Complex has earmarked 794 hectares of land in 2024 for a combined model of durian tree cultivation and cattle raising.
As of early April, Snuol planted 1,000 durian trees across 7.2 hectares of semi-intensive grassland No. 1. Two durian varieties were specifically chosen for this model: Mongthong (Thailand) and Black Thorn (Malaysia). These selections are known for their high yield, excellent quality, adaptability to the complex's climate, fast growth, and resistance to pests.
Beyond selecting high-quality durian varieties, the complex implements a multi-step care regimen to ensure optimal growing conditions, including a combination of automatic drip irrigation and spray gun watering guarantees the trees receive adequate moisture, stakes and sunshades are strategically placed to safeguard the trees from external damage, fertilization and pest control practices strictly adhere to scientific principles, creating a healthy environment for growth and development.
This integrated durian and cattle raising model at Snuol Complex embodies a sustainable development approach which optimizes land usage within the complex while fostering a beneficial environment for durian growth. In the model, waste products from cattle are transformed into organic fertilizer for the durian trees, contributing to environmental protection and reduced production costs, strengthening the entire durian production value chain.
