General Sao Sokha: THACO AGRI makes significant contribution to local socioeconomic development
On September 16, General Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia, led a delegation on a visit to the THACO AGRI's Snuol Complex in Kratie Province. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh Tu, Permanent Deputy General Director of the complex, welcomed the delegation.
General Sao Sokha expressed his appreciation for THACO AGRI's achievements at the Snuol complex. He noted that the project not only boosts agricultural productivity but also significantly contributes to local socioeconomic development. The General emphasized, "The seven fundamental factors for sustainable development are food, housing, rest, health, education, transportation, and recreation," commending THACO AGRI for its focus on these areas in its investment at the Snuol Complex.
After the meeting, the delegation toured the BP1.B banana production facility, staff housing, and cattle farm.
The complex currently provides stable employment for over 5,000 people, including 4,500 Cambodian workers. Committed to enhancing the living standards for its employees, the complex has built 1,570 worker houses and huts across its farms, offered three free meals daily and operated convenience stores and mobile kiosks providing over 1,000 consumer goods, shuttle buses and cultural activities after work.
The complex also focuses on organizing training classes from basic to advanced levels for its staff, creating opportunities for employees to learn and develop themselves. Notably, it has organized 8 primary school classes for over 250 children of employees, following the standards of the Cambodian national education system.
Looking ahead, THACO AGRI plans to expand its agricultural investments in northeastern Cambodia and recruit an additional 3,500 workers, driving the development of modern and sustainable agriculture in the region.
